I had decided that instead of driving all the way up north it would be easier for us to fly up and hire a vehicle. I had booked a car from car hire rotorua and organized flights there as well. It was not really our idea of a holiday but we had a wedding to attend up there and could not really miss it as it was a close cousin of my girlfriend. Initially we were only going to stay a couple of days but we thought seeing as we were going all that way we might as well stay on for a few extra days and check out all the tourist spots and do a few of the adventure activities in the area.
