If you love viewing wildlife and learning about diverse habitats and species, you’ll find the Birmingham Zoo a fascinating attraction.  The Birmingham Zoo is home to some 250 different species of animals.  It is a large, 122-acre zoo with many different habitat areas as well as indoor exhibitions and facilities. The Birmingham Zoo has an African Safari area where zebras, giraffes, lions and other animals roam.  There is also a Reptile House and an extensive bird exhibit, a Pachyderm exhibit, a Primate exhibit and much more.  The latest addition to the Birmingham Zoo is Kangaroo Kountry, an exhibit featuring wildlife native to Australia. Visitors can watch a fun and educational Sea Lion show at the Birmingham Zoo, as well as watch during Pelican feedings.  An interactive Lorikeet exhibit is very popular with children as well as adults who enjoy hands-on experiences with wildlife.  There is also an extensive Children’s Zoo on site, making the Birmingham Zoo an ideal destination for families.
