The Growing Need For An Electric Violin
Many people have heard an electric violin but not many people understand the need. When playing more contemporary, amplified music, an acoustic instrument, which the possible exception of drums can often times get washed out. To that effect, companies began making violins under the same pretext as a guitar. What violin makers began doing is building in a pick up underneath the strings, similar to a guitar pick up so that the violin could be plugged into a PA system or it could be plugged into an amplifier. Either way, the violin could then be heard rather than washed out by the loud natured of amplified instruments.
