Vintage Star Wars can be demonstrated in Revenge of the Sith, the darkest yet most climatic of the series (Return of the Jedi rival it in this regard).  Here lies the classic theme of a guy doing anything for his wife/woman.  Anakin thinks he’s turning to the dark side an killing Jedi to save his wife.  

His dreams confirm that she will die. . .so he does what he must. This vintage Star Wars at its best.  However, Anakin doesn’t play the selfless hero well. No his love for his wife actually leads to his demise. He doesn’t understand until it’s too late.

Although the latest Star Wars figures contain Anakin, this inner turmoil always reminds me of the vintage themes.
