What are the instances of colon cancer? What are the statistics associated with the disease? How many people are diagnosed each year? Of those people, how many have colon cancer surgery? How many survive the disease? How many succumb to it? I know the disease can be fatal. I also know that early detection is the key to survival. How many people have routine colonoscopies each year to check for the disease? I will be forty soon, so I spoke with my doctor about having a colonoscopy. He referred me to a surgeon who will perform the procedure. I want to be sure that I do not have colon cancer, and I plan to have regular colonoscopies so that colon cancer is detected early, if I should ever be diagnosed with it.
