Getting to Know the Mangosteen Tree
Some may have not even heard of the mangosteen but it is a fruit of a tropical evergreen tree. This tree is believed to have originated in the Sundra Islands and the Moluccas of Indonesia. Some of the mangosteen trees are tall, sometimes as tall as 80 feet in some areas.
The tree produces a purple fruit called the mangosteen fruit that is edible and beautiful. Some people love the taste so much but others think that the taste is just similar to that of a tangy peach.
Depending on the crop and the area it is found, the mangosteen fruit can taste very different – some very tangy and some very sweet.
