One of the most basic and easiest promotion strategies is back linking. This is often accomplished by trading links with a similar site. You can usually send an email to the owner of a website asking them to put a link to your site on one of their pages, you can also let them know that you are linking to their site on a relevant page. For example, you run a site about homeschooling. You find a site that is about attachment parenting, with a page about homeschooling. You place a link to their homeschooling page on your site where you have additional resources for your users. Then you send an email to the owner of the parenting site telling them that you added their link to your site and asking them to do the same for your page.
